Berkel Slicer model NL red
Model: Berkel NL
Manufacturing time: 1932 – 1936
Place of origin: Netherland – Rotterdam
Colour: Red
Slicing blade diameter: 319 mm
Weight: 53kg
Dimensions: width 59cm – depth 82cm – height 60cm
Note: Both vintage and replica pedestals are available
Berkel slicer model NL was produced for only four years and comes before the model 9H supplied till the 60s.
It is a short dimension slicer that, for its mechanism and slicing skills, in no way is inferior to the most wanted masterpieces.
The closed and smooth flywheel puts a gearing located under the base into action. It moves both the blade, by means of a chain, and the shifting cart, by means of two connecting rods.
The cart shifts on wheels driven by a rail laying on the base.
A graduated rod to adjust the slice is fixed on the base of the machine and drives a bill shaped lever located on a jack cog-wheel shaft fixed on the cart. This one, then, puts the endless screw into action where the comb vice is fitted, which generates the slicing movement.
Everything is at sight as for the models 5 – 7.
The jack cog-wheel is connected to a crank that when moved on the right or left shifts consequently the vice, as you like.
The short dimension sharpener is covered by a metal cap.
The hub supporting the blade is fixed to the shoulder, which is flat outside with a wing shaped arch.
This allows to lengthen an opal glass top tray, so you can manage more laying surface.
The Manifesto or our Berkel Restoration
We do ensure maximum fidelity to the historical period of reference: here’s why we apply the oven painting without the use of transparent paint, as originally done in all Berkel models. We use the original copal paint brands of the time.
In the same philosophy we carry out decorations by hand without the use of an airbrush and issue the “Certificate of Authenticity”, guaranteeing excellent operation for 5 years after delivery.
