The U.S. flywheel slicer Berkel model B was built in the period from 1918 to 1928 at the La Porte – Indiana plant and at the Toronto plant in Canada.
The Berkel model B slicer (Indianina) is the smallest slicer that Berkel has produced and for this reason it is also called “Indianina”.
Precisely for these characteristics, the Berkel model B slicer has become a synonym of elegance, taste and style.
The second version has the sharpener consisting of a mechanism enclosed by a cylinder-shaped fairing as in the 70 – 100 models but with smaller dimensions, while the cutting thickness regulator is a small graduated clock fixed on the base of the slicer.
The product fixing vice is made up of two opposing rack rods, joined by a toothed arm which acts on the product to be sliced and is inserted by interlocking above the sliding carriage.
The shoulder has the classic round and closed shape, on it the hub that supports the blade is fixed, on the shoulder the glove box is fixed which vertically has a nickel-plated iron sheet while the horizontal part where the sliced product falls is in opal glass White.
The Berkel model B slicer was built for the use of small and not very seasoned products.
The manifesto of our Berkel restoration
We do ensure maximum fidelity to the historical period of reference: here’s why we apply the oven painting without the use of transparent paint, as originally done in all Berkel models. We use the original copal paint brands of the time.
In the same philosophy we carry out decorations by hand without the use of an airbrush and issue the “Certificate of Authenticity”, guaranteeing excellent operation for 5 years after delivery.
